We are excited to announce that the Lids for Kids Grand Rapids 2019 bike helmet giveaway was the most successful yet in event history! Families came out in droves to Garfield Park last Saturday and a long line started forming an hour before the event even started. Despite an early wrap-up due to inclement weather, it was one of the best events in Lids for Kids history!
650+ Kids Fitted with Helmets
A record was set at Lids for Kids Grand Rapids 2019 – over 650 helmets were properly fitted and given away to West Michigan kids. In its 17-year history, never before have we given away this many helmets. In fact, we ran out of two of the four helmet sizes and will be sure to order more next year! With a mission to help protect kids this summer and keep them safe, we count this as a major success. Thank you to our sponsors, Sinas Dramis Law Firm, Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI), Mary Free Bed, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Hope Network, Grand Rapids Fire Department, Fox 17, and Garfield Neighborhoods Association. The event could not have been a success without you.
Highlights of the Lids for Kids Grand Rapids 2019
Lids for Kids is not only a helmet giveaway, but it is also a community event. We strive to make each event fun in its own unique way. For the second time, the Cosplay Crusaders sent superheroes out to the amusement of Grand Rapids kids and parents alike. Bat Woman and Captain America were both in attendance this year! BIAMI came with a popular face painting booth, and Fox 17 brought a prize wheel for the kids to spin and win. GoGoSqueeze was also present to hand out a treat to event attendees. We also raffled off over 15 bikes! A huge thank you again for everybody who was involved with the 2019 Grand Rapids Lid for Kids!
Now that the 2019 Lids for Kids season is wrapped, we are excited about everybody’s safe summer activities. Remember, if there are wheels beneath the feet, there needs to be a helmet on the head. Have a fun and great summer! See you in 2020!
