Lids for Kids Lansing 2019, held last weekend at the Marshall Street Fire Station, quickly became one of the most successful yet. Despite the cold, drizzly weather, families came out to Fire Station 8, creating the largest turn out since 2008! Many volunteers from Sinas Dramis Law Firm and Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center showed up to fit the attending kids with their free helmets despite the weather. As common as brain and head injuries are among children, wearing a helmet can make all the difference. A helmet that fits correctly will reduce the chance of head and brain injury by up to 85%. And studies show 9 out of 10 kids will wear their helmet when their parents also wear theirs.
Near Record Numbers at Lids for Kids Lansing 2019
Roughly 575 mid-Michigan area children from 113 different schools received free, properly fitted bike helmets on Saturday, May 18th. We haven’t seen numbers that high since 2008 when 579 helmets were given away and are proud of the turnout! We could not have done it without our sponsors. A special thank you to Sinas Dramis Law Firm, Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center, Brain Injury Association of Michigan, and Michigan Association of Justice for all the help putting on another successful event this year. Also a shout out to Chivon Kloepfer from WLNS for being such a great emcee!
